INTEGRATED & INTUITIVE
Video tutorials and help tools are integrated into the back end, to support artists and galleries. We have also used familiar and intuitive user interactions. If you can use Facebook and Google you can use vPatina.
Creating a basic account
1. Click on “Login/Sign Up” link at top of page
2. Click on “New to vPatina”
3. Create an account with Facebook, Google or e-mail address
4. Click on “Profile Name/ Icon” at top of page
5. In “About Me” section of profile add a profile photo and write about what you do
6. In the “Settings” section of your profile add your e-mail address, website and other contact information.
Introduction to Content Management on vPatina
1. Use the Create button to add folders in your Studio, Shared directory and Exhibition Directory
2. Upload art by clicking on a folder in your studio and uploading art
3. Edit and add details to a folder, by clicking on it to add descriptions, titles and a title image
4. Navigate to a piece of art by clicking on it to edit and add details
5. Organise art by dragging and droppings art from one folder to another
6. As an artists, share art with a gallery by dragging art into a shared folder
7. As a gallery, create exhibitions by dragging art from an artists folder into an exhibition.
Adding art to vPatina
1. Art is uploaded into “Folders” in the Studio. Make sure you have at least one folder in your Studio. In your ”Vault” click on “Create” and choose “Folder.”
2. Click on your “Studio” and then click on the “Folder” you want to upload art into
3. Click on the green “Add Files” button on the right side of the screen to upload art into the folder
4. Click on the green “Edit” button to get to the page where you can edit the folder. Add a “Title” and if you wish, a “Description” and a “Title” image
Adding Context to a Specific Artwork
1. If you are an artists click on the artwork you want to edit in your studio or shared folder. If you are a gallery click on the artwork you want to edit in your exhibition
2. Click on the “edit” button in the artwork
3. Enter a description and detailed information about the artwork
4. Follow the directions on the form to add information about the availability of art.
Artists - Sharing art with galleries
1. To share specific artworks create a shared folder in your shared drive and drag artworks into them
2. To share a folder of artworks with a curator drag the entire folder into your shared drive
Gallery/ Curator - Creating and Editing exhibtions for your website
1. If you are a gallery or curator, use the “Create” button to create a “Gallery” folder in your “My Exhibitions” drive (this folder will contain the art in your exhibition)
2. Edit the front page of your “Exhibition Folder” by clicking on it, clicking on the "Edit" button and adding a “Title”, “Title Image” and “Description.” Then click on the “Save” button
3. Add art. Click on the “Shared” drive, click on an “artist,” then open a “folder” of art and drag “art” from this folder to the “Exhibitions Folder" you created
4. Choose the order of artworks in your exhibition by dragging and moving “Art” within the “Folder” in the tree.
Embedding - Introduction and Overview
1. In your "Vault," click on an "Exhibition Folder" and then click on the "Embed" button to create a plugin
2. Add a distinctive description for your plugin to make it easier to manage
3. Style the look of the link that appears on your website - (see separate tutorial)
4. Style the look of the pop ups that display your exhibitions and art - (see separate tutorial)
5. Remaining in the "Exhibition Folder", go the the library of "Existing Plugins" you have create and preview the ones you are interested in
6. Copy and paste the code from the preview page onto your website
Embedding - Styling an embedded link/image
1. If you want a text-styled embed choose "link," for link type
2. In the exhibition "Title" enter the text you want to use for the link
3. Use HTML text tags so the text takes on the styles you have defined for your website
4. If you want a image-styled embed choose "image" for the link type
5. Then, if you are an advanced user, use the custom CSS and container class fields to style the image
6. Or, if you are a more basic user, set the width and height of the image in the custom css field
Embedding - Styling a pop up
1. Either choose to ”Add” or “Edit” an “Embed”
2. If you want to allow the collector to close the information bar, choose “Yes” for this option
3. If the bar is closable, and you don’t initially want to show it, choose “No” for this option
4. If you want a border for the image, then choose a width for the border
5. If you have a border, choose a colour for it
6. If you have a border, decide how rounded you want it to be
